Celebrate West Greenwich is a day to join your neighbors, friends and family in celebrating the beauty and history of scenic West Greenwich ... a day to experience the natural treasures in the community you live in!
SCHEDULE
- 1:00: Opening and Dedication of Plain Meeting House
- 1:00 — 4:00: Horse Drawn Wagon Rides
Provided By Edgewood Farm. Enjoy a relaxing horse drawn wagon ride on country roads in the
area from the various parking lots to the event site.
1:00 — 3:30: Family Scavenger Hunt Forms available at Land Trust Tent.
1:30 — 2:30: RI Forest Conservator's Organization/ RIFCO
Take a guided walk with RIFCO member and local forestry consultant Marc Tremblay and learn about the pine management demo lot on the Liberty Tract. (3/10 of a mile west of church on Liberty Hill Road)
2:00: Animal Experiences by Dave Marchetti Amazing hands on session where the audience gets to handle their own, turtles, snakes, lizards, amphibians, an alligator and some small mammals.
2:00: Watercolor Art Class Join local RISD Students in learning the basics of watercolor painting of the West Greenwich landscape.
2:00 — 3:00: Nature Walk on Tillinghast Pond With Tim Mooney of the Nature Conservancy. Meet at the Pond Parking Lot.
3:00: West Greenwich History Learn the history of West Greenwich Center from Town Administrator and lifelong resident Kevin Breene.
3:30: Home Town Barbecue Chicken Dinner Prepared and served by the Andrews Family of West Greenwich. $9.00 per person, advanced
reservations must be submitted by using the form at right or by calling 392-3628.

prior to September 17, 2010.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
- Geo-caching throughout West Greenwich
Geo-caching is an entertaining adventure game designed to have participants explore all of what West Greenwich has to offer. Two test tube size canisters have been hidden in two
scenic locations of West Greenwich. Participants will be provided easy to follow directions and or GPS coordinates to locate and sign the sheet within each canister. The top two
participants, one using directions and one using GPS, will be awarded a gift certificate to R.E.I. of $75.00 each at Plain Meeting House at 4:30 PM on October 2, 2010. The directions and
coordinates will be released on Saturday, September 4, 2010 on our web site.

Digital Photo Contest The West Greenwich Land Trust is looking for digital photos of natural, scenic and historic
areas throughout West Greenwich to be used in the Land Trust's web site, publications, newsletters, etc. Digital photos no larger then 2 MB, 300 DPI will be accepted no later then September 17, 2010
on our web site (see instructions below). The top three photos chosen for "The Best of West Greenwich" will be awarded 1st $75.00, 2nd $50.00 and 3rd $25.00 gift certificates to R.E.I. All photos
entered will become the property of the West Greenwich Land Trust and each participant will receive credit when his or her photo is published. Digital photo awards will be showcased and honored at Plain Meeting
House at 4:30 PM on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Three [3] photo entry limit per person.
CLICK HERE to submit your digital photo. Send one photo at a time as an attachment and
include title/description. Each photo must be no larger than 2MB, 300dpi. Three [3] photo entry limit per person. Deadline for submitting photos is September 17, 2010.
- Tillinghast Pond Bobber Hunt
Twenty-five [25] orange and white fishing bobbers will be dispersed on Tillinghast Pond by Saturday, September 4th,
located on Plain Road approximately 1/2 mile from the intersection of Plain Meeting House Road and Plain Road. The bobbers are numbered and labeled WG Land
Trust. Please remove one bobber per family and bring to the October 2nd event at Plain Meeting House at 4:30 PM for the drawing of two bobber numbers to win a $25.00 gift certificate.
